Squirrels YouShape Award Guidance

Working with the Squirrel Section Support Team, the Youth Team has produced guidance for the section’s YouShape Award. This menu of suggestions provides a framework for volunteers to adapt to their Drey – Squirrels YouShape Award Guidance.

Much of the YouShape Award is already achieved if a youth-led approach to the programme is taken – so your programme likely already includes this award. This guidance is to help volunteers engage with Squirrels to ensure their voices are heard and to show where the award might be achieved.

All parts of the YouShape Award can be achieved with other badges, and it’s likely that this happens already. Young people are often excited to take the lead, too. Please demonstrate to the Squirrels the difference their ideas have made, so they know their voice matters!

Through this, our youngest section can make their own choices and feel confident that those choices will not just be supported, but valued from the very beginning. If you would like further support or ideas, please let us know.
