Website Update
Over the past month, the District team has come together to help me reinvigorate the Denewulf website so that it is a place where current and prospective young people and volunteers can easily find information.
Both the Group and Explorer main pages have been updated to show maps of the District and where each Group or Unit is located. Each Scout Group and Explorer Unit have had their pages updated to show its meeting times and a way of contacting that group/unit (either by displaying their website or providing an email address). GLVs (and anyone who’s willing to check), I’d appreciate it if you could look at your Group to see if all the information is correct. I’d also love an image of any necker badges or embroidery for each Group/Unit, as these help make them stand out – see Adurni ESU, for an example of this. My email is below.
The About Us section and the complementary Meet the Team page demonstrate what the District has to offer to all members and give a good account of Scouting locally; there is also a Contacts page to help you find the right person in the District Team to speak to. The form there goes straight to the email address of the DLVs for general enquiries.
Much of the content of the Volunteers page has changed to bring it in line with the current learning policy and the new “system” (thanks to Sonia for her help with wording this).
In Denewulf, we are lucky to have a range of ways to do different activities and the pages for our two activity centres, the Vikings Activities Team and the Fareham Scout Band, have been refreshed with current contact details and the correct ways to book. This is all found in the Activities section.
Finally (at least in terms of what I’m going to write down), the Youth Team has its own page, which details our role and what we’re working on. This includes the YouShape Award, particularly the opportunity for Explorers to request its presentation by us when they’ve completed it (which two Explorers have already done).
Please feel free to explore, and don’t be afraid to let me know what needs changing/updating. I know there’s more to add – Young Leaders and Adventurous Activity Permits, come to mind – so contact me via jason.nash@hampshirescouts.org.uk and I’ll look into it. I have also been doing the graphics for the social media posts introducing new team members and for the DYL Instagram account; we’d be really keen to show off what different groups/units are doing throughout Denewulf, so please feel free to send photos and a summary of meetings or events to us.
